NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Caseworker I

POSITION STATUS: Regular Full Time

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-exempt

PAY SCALE GRADE: 10-11-12

REPORTS TO: Program Director

 

The Children & Family Services Program works closely with children and families involved with the Office of Children’s Services. The Caseworker I position is an entry level position. Effective written and oral communication skills are required.

 

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Under supervision of the CFS Program Director provide social service casework.
  2. Implement the service case plans as outlined in the Office of Children’s Service (OCS) referral.
  3. Provide ongoing assessment and update of client needs as well as collaborate and coordinate services with appropriate providers to meet identified needs.
  4. Provide supportive services to both parents and children involved with OCS and foster parents who have children in their care. Maintain daily, weekly and monthly communications between clients and service providers involved.
  5. Prepare social case histories, complete report of contacts, case summaries and case closures.
  6. Complete the OCS Training and additional training identified by Kawerak.
  7. May be required to attend court hearings and testify at court proceedings.
  8. Required to travel to remote villages in light commercial aircraft to provide services to program clients.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Children & Family Service Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED plus one year work experience in the field.
  2. Facility in a Bering Strait region Native language is highly desirable.
  3. Must maintain client confidentiality and be willing to travel extensively in rural Alaska.
  4. Must hold or obtain a valid Alaska Driver’s License within six months of date of hire.
  5. Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  6. No prior convictions of child abuse, family violence or other convictions that would affect the performance of the position requirements.
