
NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION
DIVISION: CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES

JOB TITLE: Children and Family Services Program Director
POSITION STATUS: Regular, Full Time
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-exempt
PAY SCALE GRADE: 14-15-16-17
REPORTS TO: VP Children and Family Services
BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate program planning and development and ensure implementation
of the goals and objectives of the Children and Family Services Program.
- Provide consultation and on-going orientation and coordination of training
to staff.
- Conduct staff evaluations on an annual basis or as needed. Provide
hiring and firing recommendations through the Vice President of Children
and Family Services to HR and the President.
- Monitor, adjust and approve all staff time entries through time force.
- Responsible for the overall financial management of the program, including
developing, monitoring, and modifying and closing out budgets as required
by Kawerak Inc. and funding agencies.
- Develop and submit grant applications and program reports as required
by Kawerak Inc. and funding agencies.
- Develop and update protocols and Memorandum of Understandings to improve
the delivery and coordination of social services between agencies and
tribal governments in the region and throughout the State of Alaska.
- Develop and implement quality assurance mechanisms for the CFS program,
including conducting weekly case reviews with all staff to ensure the
proper provision of services for children and families.
- Work together with the Office of Children’s Services (OCS) and
regional tribal governments to ensure that state and tribal child welfare
standards are being met in accordance with all regulations, policies,
ordinances and governing requirements.
- Coordinate with OSC”s Tribal IV-E Coordinator to ensure maximum
reimbursement for the Tribal Title IV-E program.
- Work with regional entities to ensure that village social services
needs are addressed. Promote family and community wellness and ensure staff
implements primary prevention activities outlined in the goals and objectives
of the program.
- Keep current with all federal, state, and tribal laws that affect
and impact child welfare.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of the Children and
Family Services Division.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in the field of social work, psychology, counseling
or related field preferred; work experience may substitute for education
on a year for year basis.
- At least one year experience in child protective services, working
knowledge of ICWA and state and tribal court proceedings preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Must possess
basic computer knowledge and skills in Windows, Internet, Microsoft Excel
and Word, Power Point and Publisher.
- Experience in cross-cultural and rural settings preferred.
- Must pass child protective services and criminal history and background
check.
- Must keep client confidentiality.
- Must be willing to travel in the Bering Strait Region, the State of
Alaska and occasionally throughout the United States.
