JOB TITLE:                                                           Foster Care Recruiter’s Assistant
POSITION STATUS:                                         Regular, Full time

PAY SCALE GRADE:                                      9-10-11
REPORTS TO:                                                    Children & Family Services Program Director

The Foster Care Recruiter’s Assistant is a position whose main responsibilities will focus on assisting the Foster Care Recruiter/Caseworker with recruitment within the Bering Strait region.   The Foster Care Recruiter’s Assistant will also assist the Children & Family Services Program to meet program goals as outlined in the ICWA Compliance grant.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Foster Care Recruiter/Caseworker in the recruitment within the Bering Strait region using a variety of methods.
  2. Assist foster care applicants with the licensing application.  Submit completed application to the Foster Care Recruiter/Caseworker for review.
  3. Assist the Foster Care Recruiter/Caseworker a listing of foster care providers; update as needed.
  4. Coordinate support systems for foster parents as needed/requested.
  5. Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as required by the Children & Family Services Director to keep abreast of foster care issues.
  6. Provide supportive services to both parents and children involved with the Office of Children’s Services Program and foster parents who have children in their care.
  7. Assist Foster Care Recruiter/Caseworker with inspections of foster homes.
  8. Assist Foster Care Recruiter/Caseworker with trainings provided for foster parents.
  9. Attend all assigned meetings.
  10. Required to travel to remote villages in light commercial aircraft to recruit foster homes, and provide outreach services to program clients.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the Children & Family Services Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Basic computer skills.
  3. Valid Driver’s License.
  4. Able to travel extensively in rural Alaska.
  5. No prior conviction of child abuse, family violence, or other convictions that would affect the performance of the position requirements. Must pass a criminal background check.
  6. Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  7. Knowledge of Bering Strait Region preferred.
