NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION

DIVISION: Education, Employment and Training Division

PROGRAM: General Assistance

JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator

POSITION STATUS: Regular, Part Time

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAY SCALE GRADE: 9-10-11

REPORTS TO: General Assistance Director

 

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Distribute Welfare Assistance applications upon request; explain the eligibility criteria, application process, forms, the appeal procedure and the applicant's legal responsibility for full and timely disclosure to applicants.
  2. Assist clients to prepare and complete Welfare Assistance Applications. Interview clients to secure case information such as family composition, income, problems and other relevant information.
  3. Review submitted applications to insure all required documentation is included. If application is not complete, notify applicant in writing of additional materials, which need to be submitted.
  4. Provide counseling, referral and support services to applicants.
  5. Assist with the development of publicity material, pamphlets, forms checklists and other required information, per the program guidelines.
  6. Maintain case records and program files, write reports as required, and requested.
  7. Answer the telephone, answer questions pertaining to program, type, file, distribute mail and make travel arrangements for Welfare Assistance staff.
  8. Travel to Bering Strait Region villages to administer and promote the Welfare Assistance Program as needed.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the General Assistance Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. plus two years experience in a comparable position.
  2. Must possess computer knowledge and skills in windows, Internet usage, excel and word.
  3. Knowledge of general office procedures.
  4. Facility in a Native Language of the Bering Straits region highly desirable.
  5. Must be able to maintain client confidentiality.
