
NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Administration, Information Systems
JOB TITLE: Help Desk Technician
POSITION STATUS: Regular Full Time
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY SCALE GRADE: 8-9-10
REPORTS TO: Information Technology Manager
BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Receives and responds to staff inquiries/ requests for technical assistance in an effective and timely manner; escalate issues to other IT staff as necessary.
- Provide end‐user hardware and software support to Nome area staff.
- Provide clear and concise correspondence to computer end users during troubleshooting process.
- Diagnoses and resolves end-user network or local printer problems.
- Deliver, set up and assist in the configuration of end-user PC desktop hardware, software and peripherals.
- Diagnoses and resolves end-user network or local printer problems.
- Prepares and distributes reports, including but not limited to weekly and monthly status reports to the Information Technology Manager.
- Other duties as assigned by the Information Technology Staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. and at least one year of experience in a Help Desk related position. Microsoft Desktop Support Technician Certification and/or A+ Certifications a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and Windows Operating Systems (XP, Windows 7) and the ability to operate/maintain other standard office equipment, including telephones, copiers, FAX machines, etc. is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Must be dependable, self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must be able to travel as needed. Travel may occur during evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift or move parcels of 40 pounds or less. The employee is occasionally required to climb, kneel, crouch or crawl.
