
NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Administration, Information Systems
JOB TITLE: Information Systems Technician
POSITION STATUS: Regular Full Time
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY SCALE GRADE: 12-13-14
REPORTS TO: Information Systems Manager
BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Perform computer equipment and peripherals setup, configuration and maintenance.
- Install, maintain and repair printers, scanners, projectors and other
devices.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot LAN/ WAN and Wireless Networks.
- Travel to villages to install equipment and train staff on computer and
network use.
- Maintain inventory of new and existing computer hardware and peripherals,
as well as other electronic equipment.
- Manage Active Directory, Domain Users, Groups and Desktop Security Policies.
- Perform phone/voicemail maintenance and moves, adds and changes and assist
with administration of Nortel phone system.
- Maintain records of help desk support requests through their satisfactory
resolution.
- Provide technical support for all departments.
- Work with the Information Systems Manager to evaluate current technology
and plan for future technology needs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Information Systems Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. and at least one year of experience in a
computer related field, relevant Microsoft and/or A+ certifications a
plus.
- Experience in installing computer hardware, troubleshooting networked
systems, and understanding of client-server architecture.
- Familiarity with and ability to troubleshoot Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003
and XP. Knowledge of Linux and Cisco OS preferred.
- Understanding of Windows based networks, wide area networks, and network
client configurations.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to travel as needed. Travel may occur during evenings, weekends
and holidays.
- Ability to lift or move parcels of 40 pounds or less. The employee is
occasionally required to climb, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be dependable, self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
