NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Administration, Information Systems

JOB TITLE: Information Systems Technician

POSITION STATUS: Regular Full Time

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAY SCALE GRADE: 12-13-14

REPORTS TO: Information Systems Manager

 

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

  1. Perform computer equipment and peripherals setup, configuration and maintenance.
  2. Install, maintain and repair printers, scanners, projectors and other devices.
  3. Install, maintain and troubleshoot LAN/ WAN and Wireless Networks.
  4. Travel to villages to install equipment and train staff on computer and network use.
  5. Maintain inventory of new and existing computer hardware and peripherals, as well as other electronic equipment.
  6. Manage Active Directory, Domain Users, Groups and Desktop Security Policies.
  7. Perform phone/voicemail maintenance and moves, adds and changes and assist with administration of Nortel phone system.
  8. Maintain records of help desk support requests through their satisfactory resolution.
  9. Provide technical support for all departments.
  10. Work with the Information Systems Manager to evaluate current technology and plan for future technology needs.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the Information Systems Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or G.E.D. and at least one year of experience in a computer related field, relevant Microsoft and/or A+ certifications a plus.
  2. Experience in installing computer hardware, troubleshooting networked systems, and understanding of client-server architecture.
  3. Familiarity with and ability to troubleshoot Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 and XP. Knowledge of Linux and Cisco OS preferred.
  4. Understanding of Windows based networks, wide area networks, and network client configurations.
  5. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  6. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  7. Must be able to travel as needed. Travel may occur during evenings, weekends and holidays.
  8. Ability to lift or move parcels of 40 pounds or less. The employee is occasionally required to climb, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  9. Must be dependable, self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
