NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Sr. Planner

POSITION STATUS: Regular Full Time

EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt

PAY SCALE GRADE: 15-16-17

REPORTS TO: President

 

The Sr. Planner is responsible for managing the long range planning process for Divisions and Kawerak as a whole. The Sr. Planner oversees the activities of Kawerak’s Administrative Planning staff and works with Division staff to meet program goals/objectives either through the planning process, grant writing assistance/monitoring, or compliance. The Sr. Planner assists in data gathering and research to address Kawerak or regional needs.

 

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide leadership and direction to Administrative Planning staff to r esearch, plan, and write new proposals for funding that are consistent with the goals and objectives of Kawerak as outlined in the By-laws, Long Range Plans and Visioning Report;
  2. Provide supervision and direction to the Administrative Planning staff; conduct staff evaluations on an annual basis or as necessary. Provide hiring, termination, or other personnel action recommendations to the President.
  3. Responsible for managing Kawerak’s long range planning process; works with the board and staff to update the Kawerak Long Range Plans on a regularly scheduled basis.
  4. Works with the Vice Presidents and Program Directors to assist:
  5. Manages the internal grant review process; reviews draft grant applications and budgets and recommends changes to Vice Presidents and Program Directors prior to submittal to granting agency;
  6. Follow up on new and continuing grant applications until such time as a written grant award is received.
  7. Conduct research to establish needs within the region. Maintain a data base that can be used to support needs for new programs;
  8. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of and ensure compliance with Kawerak policies &
    procedures and pertinent laws & regulations relating to grant operation;
  9. May be tasked with special projects, meeting facilitation and administrative support services to the President and Executive Vice-President;
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Kawerak President.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Four years of planning experience or college education on a year for year basis, plus two years of supervisory experience.
  2. Must possess strong writing, budgeting, research and communication skills.
  3. Ability to work well with others and under pressure.
  4. Must possess basic computer knowledge and skills in Internet usage, Word, Excel and Windows.
