The Children and Family Services Division handles programs involving children and families, helps with emergency temporary assistance, as well as transitional and long term family wellness assistance.
Children & Family Services Program This program employs Tribal Family Coordinators within participating villages to assist with ICWA cases and family preservation. Caseworkers located in Nome provide services to families involved with the Office of Children's Services. Child Advocacy Center This program operates a child-friendly, culturally-respectful place where caring professionals work together in one location, to help children and families cope with sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and exposure to violence. Head Start Program Kawerak's Head Start is a pre-school program that promotes social competence and structure among three and four year old children in the Bering Strait region. Strong parental involvement, health and social services are primary components of Head Start's well-rounded program. |
