| What is ARDOR? |
In 1989 the State Legislature created the Alaska Economic Assistance Program to encourage formation of Alaska Regional Development Organization (ARDORs) that address economic concerns on a regional and local basis throughout the State. Once designated, the ARDOR is required to prepare economic profiles of the region and its communities and a regional development strategy. Kawerak, Inc. received the Bering Strait ARDOR designation in January 1997 and consists of a 16-member board, which represents various sectors of the economic community. DUTIES OF THE ARDOR
