Assisting Alaska Natives and American Indians in the Bering Strait Region with disabilities to find, regain or retain employment and become self sufficient.

 
Services are available to individuals with:
  • Orthopedic problems such as back injuries
  • Amputation
  • Diabetes
  • Head Injuries or Stroke
  • Hearing Impairments
  • Visual Impairments
  • Development Disabilities
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Seizure Disorders
  • Mental Illness
  • Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery
  • Disabled Veterans

An EET student learns the
finer points of welding
  Services Available:
  • Job exploration, counseling, and support after employment
  • Supplemental financial help for attending training programs, certification and re-certification
  • Supplemental financial help for assistance technology, such as artificial limbs, hearing aides,TTY, or wheelchairs
  • Equipment and tools for small businesses or subsistence activities that enable self-sufficiency
  • Referrals to services that promote independent living and recreational opportunities
  • Medical and psychiatric services
Eligibility:

You may be eligible for Kawerak tribal Vocational Rehabilitation Services if you:
  • Have problems getting or keeping a job because of a documented physical or mental disability
  • Need vocational rehabilitation services to help prepare for work
  • Have documentation of Alaska Native or American Indian tribal membership
