Youth Education & Employment Training Opportunities are provided throughout the year and designed to offer youth between the ages of 14 – 21 years of age valuable employability skills and work experience.

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYP):
The SYP program provides part-time summer employment to youth 14-21 years of age, during the months of June, July & August. Worksites are voluntary and may last 6 to 8 weeks.
The Winter Youth Employment Program (WYP):
The WYP programs provides part-time winter employment to youth 14-21 year of age, during the months of September to May (funding permitted). Worksites are voluntary and may last 8-12 weeks.
Youth participants will set goals prior to placement in the worksite and are assessed following the program to determine whether goals were achieved.
The Youth Education and Employment Program:
The program is designed to assist eligible youth between the ages of 16-21 who have dropped high school and need to attain a General Education Development (GED) Diploma. (Note: This is not an alternative to completing high school.)
The program will support youth in attaining a GED and provide a paid work experience in an area of their interest. By enrolling in the program, youth will be active in taking control of their future by:
- Developing personal goals
- Identify barriers to success and a plan to overcome them
- Identify abilities, skills and interests
- Identify a mentor in the community who will support their efforts
- Create a letter of interest, a resume and complete a job application
- Understand the job search process (verbal, written and on-line)
- Use the internet for job search activities and register with the ALEXSys
- Review interviewing and employability skills
- Explore education and career opportunities for future employment
Eligibility Requirements:
- Income Eligibility Guidelines Apply
- Verification of all family income for the last 1 year period
- Tribal Verification or BIA Card
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- Report Card or Diploma
- Selective Service Registration (for males 18 year of age or older)
- Work Permit for youth ages 14 - 17
