The Native Village of Shishmaref is governed by a seven member Indian Reorganizational Act (IRA) Council which convenes on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, with an annual meeting held in January. Elections for the Tribal Council members are held in accordance with the procedures outlined within the Constitution and By-Laws.
